A band game without the use of instrumental peripherals? That’s new.
Yep, the upcoming Ultimate Band for Wii, developed by the kiddie powerhouse, Disney (well, its Interactive Studios), is going to be more casual than the other music game, according to this site. Its not even going to be in the lines of a music performance simulator. All its intent is really to be a party game, using your wiimote and nunchucks to resemble instrument play.

Mr. Warren Spector is the man who helped establish Ion Storm and created the Deus Ex and Theif franchises. He’s currently with Junction Point Studios and was a keynote speaker at the recently concluded Game Education Summit.
According to this post, Mr. Spector believes that 100 hour games aren’t the way to go. He even asked attendees if anyone finished GTA, which spent about $100M to finish and only 2% actually saw the end.

We’re trying to debunk the great myth - that consoles are reigning supreme over computer games. See the latest release, Age of Conan, which sold 400,000 copies in May. It’s considered one of 2008’s successful debut. Sorry guys, you may only play it on your PC’s.

First Popcap, now RealGames , the games division of RealNetworks. They’re all commissioning studies about the health benefits of casual gaming. PRNewswire reported that the survey done by Information Solutions Group by the media network came out with positive effects to those burdened with vices.

Seems like TV Network, Nickelodeon, is following the footsteps of its long time competitor, Disney, according to this article. Viacom, Nick’s mother company, is doing a lot of movement with its people to head up the new divisions that will cover gaming.
The network is going to invest on this new venture and develop titles that will revolve around its existing brands and properties. And upon visiting the sites, it looks like they’re aiming at promoting and releasing titles every week.

Controversial online ad company, Zango, just recently lost 70 employees - 68 of which are from layoffs while 2 execs tendered their resignation. This happened a month after Washington CEO magazine announced them as one of the best companies to work for in the state. Sad news.
