Looks Like the iPhone Stole N-Gage’s Thunder
What made it so? Chris Wright, on his periodic column down at PocketGamer.co.uk, tells us why. The iPhone gained a lot of fans, including Mr. Wright, for its innovation, as it exceeded so many expectations as to what a mobile phone should be, much to Nokia’s chagrin. And currently, there are more apps available for the iPhone as compared to the N-Gage, considering that the latter was out of the market for a longer time.On the other hand, the completely open system at the Apple Store is destroying the iPhone. Why? This system made it harder for users to find quality software/games. Just like casual games, where its hard to determine if the game’s a gem or a dud.
This system is so much of a contrast as to the Nokia’s N-Gage store. Although there is only a handful of games available, most of them are high-quality. The only problem is that Nokia doesn’t seem to push the system.
Mr. Wright believes that N-Gage could be the next best gaming gadget. For one, it has the largest phone manufacturer behind it. Then, the games will be running on one of the most powerful hardware. Even he thinks the N95 would win against the iPhone as the better mobile gaming platform, hands down.
Maybe, just maybe, if Nokia has as much confidence in the N-Gage as Apple’s blatant evangelism on iPhone, it would have been a whole lot different battleground.
