Europeans Prefer Casual Games
Would you believe this? Crytek CEO, Cevat Yerli, said that most Europeans perfer short games as opposed to action and shooter games that are popular in North America and in some other parts of the world. They perceive these kinds of titles as “evil” which comes with all the guns and the gore.
And you know what the best-selling game in all of Europe in 2007 is? Its Brain Training for the DS. Yes, folks, its a casual game. According to Forbes, it sold over 2.8 million units. Next in line was FIFA 2008 with 2.3 million units.
Europe and N. America may have generated almost the same revenue of $18 billion last year, but the potential market of the latter is twice as large.
