Want to Kick a Bad Habit? Play Casual Games!

by Aiza on June 24th, 2008

realgames logoFirst Popcap, now RealGames , the games division of RealNetworks. They’re all commissioning studies about the health benefits of casual gaming. PRNewswire reported that the survey done by Information Solutions Group by the media network came out with positive effects to those burdened with vices.

Long story short, playing games proved to be a good distraction to whatever bad habit it was they were addicted to which, in turn, helped them reduce use of their vices and also reduced food intake (for the unhealthy eating habits).

The survey also reported that smokers enjoyed playing “Little Shop of Treasures” and “Mysteryville”.  While in general, participants accounted feeling “relaxed and relieved of stress” after a playing.

Looks like these studies are all singing the same tunes.
