Now I’m Confused
A few days ago, I wrote a post about Laurent Fischer, managing director of marketing and PR at Nintendo of Europe saying that the concept of casual gaming is just plain absurd.
Then suddenly, I would read an article about legendary Nintendo designer, Shigeru Miyamoto (the father of Mario and Zelda *bowing*) and his passionate talk about his latest innovation, the Wii Fit.
Although a lot of skeptics see the contraption as a “glorified bathroom scale”, Shigeru envisions it as a bridge to all the non-gamers out there. He said that, the Wii Fit “was a means by which gamers could get the non-gaming people in their lives to take an interest in their hobby…. that will broaden the interest of videogamers.” He also have a strong belief that videogames should be enjoyed by everbody. Sadly, console gaming is dying a slow death in his homeland, Japan.
And these two people come from the same company. One’s saying, although indirectly, that casual gaming is the way to go, while the other is just bashing the idea of casual gaming.
Eep.
