Review: Are you Up for A Feud?

by Aiza on April 27th, 2008

Family Feud III - Dream Home (Publisher: iWin)

family-feud-3-logoThe Third installment of the Family Feud franchise will make every trivia maniac happy. Not only did it stay true to the original TV gameshow, the title boasts of almost 3,000 questions to make sure that these won’t repeat as often.

This time, though, the game has a twist. Use your winnings to decorate your dream home. Play some more to unlock more items.

You have the option to play in 2 modes. As a single player, you need to beat the average score and play head to head with their expert players. Or play as a group or with another human player.

Gameplay - 4/5
A lot of the plus points go to the game for bringing in nostalgia.
Plus, decorating your house with all your winning is a good idea, although not very original. Reminded me too much of The Sims.

Music - 3/5
I’m not sure if they opted no background music at all just to help with the player’s concentration. But the host’s voice over and the cheers from the “audience” definitely sets the mood.

Eyecandy - 5/5
Although the game may look simple, it still serves it purpose. The fonts easy to read, colors bold enough but not overpowering and most of all, the clean layout makes all info viewable without adding much to the stress.

Replayability - 4/5
After 2 hours of play, only 2 of the questions got repeated. Not bad, eh? As with any other trivia games, I doubt it if it’ll last a long time. Good thing the sim-esque home decorating addition will make you want to play longer.

Controls - 4/5
Since most of the in-game controls are via keyboard, it would have been better if they included a keyboard assignment for the “no answer” option.

Verdict
Family Feud III will assure you and your family or friends hours of fun and amusement. I had a blast learning what 100 survey participants had to answer for each of the questions. (see screenies) You have no idea how silly some of the answers were. If they could figure out a way to update questions online, it would definitely add to the lifecycle of the game, and to the enjoyment of players too.
